REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals (EC No 1907/2006) is the European Union’s chemical regulation that came into force in June 2007.

REACH applies to chemicals in any kind of product, known under REACH as “articles”. However, there are some exemptions for chemicals used in products for defense, medical or veterinary products, and foods etc.
All the companies importing products to resell them on the European market, need to ensure that the products are compliant with the REACH regulation and check if there are any Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) in the products,
Non-compliant products with the REACH regulation cannot be legally placed into the European market.
Each European member is free to determines the penalties that would apply to the infringement of REACH Regulation, but the penalties could be very huge.
